The Wind River-Painted Hills Public Access Area (PAA) is located on a an easement on the upper Wind River, southeast of Dubois. The PAA is accessed from Red Hills from US Hwy 287/26 and has a single parking area adjacent to the Red Hills Rd. bridge over the Wind River. Wind River-Painted Hills provides parking for fishing access only, no camping, fires or hunting. Fishing for cutthroat, brown, and rainbow trout, and mountain whitefish is excellent on the Wind River. The Wind River-Painted Hills does not have a boat launch. In the riparian areas along the river moose, whitetail deer, mule deer and Pronghorn antelope are common. The Wind River-Painted Hills PAA is southeast of Dubois, WY.
