Wyoming Wildlife Fellowship
The Wyoming Wildlife Fellowship strives to promote well-rounded and well-prepared wildlife and fisheries professionals through an immersive, supportive, hands-on education and work experience.
This is open to any undergraduate at the University of Wyoming, including transfer students and incoming freshmen, who are interested in wildlife and fisheries management and conservation and who have at least two years (four semesters, two summers) left in their undergraduate degree.
Fellows must be 18 years old at the start of the fellowship and must have an average 3.0 grade point average to be eligible for or to remain in the program. To support their time in the program, fellows are awarded a stipend of $3,000 for each of the first two semesters, $3,500 for the following two semesters and $4,000 for any remaining semesters.
The purpose of the fellowship is to provide undergraduate students with firsthand experience working in natural resource management in Wyoming throughout their academic experience while attending UW. This fellowship will build upon the students' ongoing natural resource degree by providing hands-on field experience with a state wildlife agency prior to graduation.
Program requirements
Maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 at the University of Wyoming.
Attend and pass the Wyoming Wildlife Fellowship seminar class at UW at least once a year.
Complete a minimum of 20 hours of approved volunteer time each semester.
Complete two paid summer internships with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
Application requirements
Application & Interview
Complete the application form in accordance with the schedule developed by the Oversight Committee. Applicants will be invited to a virtual interview by the Oversight Committee.
University attendance
Applicants must attend or plan to attend the University of Wyoming starting in the fall semester after application. Applicants may be incoming freshmen, transfer students from community colleges, current freshmen or sophomores at UW who have at least two years remaining in their undergraduate degree program.
Grade point average
Applicants must have graduated high school with a minimum of a 3.25 GPA and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 while in college. The application must include all high school and college transcripts.
Intended major
Applicants must intend to major in a natural resources-related degree. The Oversight Committee determines which degree programs lead to natural resources-related degrees.
