EVANSTON— Watercraft users traveling into Wyoming from Utah on I-80 between Jul. 15-19 should plan ahead for their required aquatic invasive species (AIS) inspections. The Evanston Port of Entry will be closed for maintenance Monday, Jul. 15, through Friday, Jul. 19, along with the AIS check station that typically operates seven days a week to inspect watercraft entering Wyoming. 

Boaters who intend to launch in Wyoming should plan ahead to get an inspection at an alternate location. Failure to comply with inspection requirements could result in a fine or, worse, the introduction of invasive species into Wyoming waters.

State law requires that any watercraft transported into Wyoming from Mar. 1 through Nov. 30 must undergo a mandatory inspection by an authorized inspector before launching in any water of the state. All watercraft must stop at any open watercraft check station on their travel route, regardless of previous destination and intention to launch in Wyoming.

Check stations at Anvil Draw near Flaming Gorge and the Kemmerer Port of Entry will remain open. More information, including a complete list of authorized inspection locations, is available online. The Evanston Port of Entry AIS check station is scheduled to reopen on Jul. 20.
