Boaters are flocking back to Wyoming’s waters for the start of the 2024 boating season and are reminded that they must comply with Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) prevention protocols. It is the boater’s responsibility to review and comply with watercraft regulations. Check stations across the Laramie Region are now open and anyone transporting watercraft must stop at all open check stations they encounter during their travels. As a reminder, all watercraft entering Wyoming from March 1 to November 30 must undergo a mandatory inspection.

Watercraft users can also contact private inspectors, who may charge a fee for their services. A statewide map of Game and Fish check stations and private inspectors is available. Hours of operation are subject to change throughout the season and watercraft users are encouraged to check the map for current information.
As a reminder to watercraft users, all visible vegetation must be removed from a watercraft/trailer once it leaves the water. Boaters must drain all water from watercraft after leaving a water, including all compartments. All bilge/ballast/live well plugs must be removed from the watercraft while transported by land in the state.
For members of the public interested in becoming a certified AIS inspector, Game and Fish will host an open training on April 27 at the Laramie Regional Office (1212 S. Adams Street, Laramie). The training will take place from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., will include presentations and hands-on practice with decontamination equipment, and will conclude with an exam.
